What Qualifies as a Correction
A correction is issued when a factual error appears in published content. This includes incorrect data, misattributed quotes, wrong dates, incorrect CVE numbers, or inaccurate descriptions of technical vulnerabilities. Corrections are not issued for differences in interpretation or editorial judgment.
How to Report an Error
Readers who identify a factual error in any article are encouraged to report it using the contact form on this site. Please include the article URL, the specific text that appears to be incorrect, and the source or evidence supporting the correction. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours on working days.
How Corrections Are Applied
When an error is confirmed, the article is updated with the corrected information. A correction notice is appended at the end of the affected article clearly stating what was changed and when. The original publication date of the article is not altered. The correction notice includes the date of correction.
Significant Errors
Where an error materially changes the meaning or conclusions of an article, a correction notice is placed prominently at the top of the article in addition to the end. In cases where the article cannot be corrected without fundamentally rewriting it, it may be retracted with a notice explaining why.
Retractions
An article is retracted when its core claims are found to be incorrect and cannot be repaired through correction. Retracted articles remain available with a prominent retraction notice rather than being deleted, so the record of publication and retraction is preserved.
Response Time
Corrections to breaking or developing stories are prioritized. We aim to publish confirmed corrections within 24 hours of verification. Complex technical corrections involving vulnerability analysis or legal interpretation may take longer to verify before publication.
